The IGND Scorecard has been updated with the 2024 mid-year assessment. We are very pleased to congratulate the City on the unanimous approval by Common Council of the Justice 50 program!
Justice 50 establishes a framework for City government to direct 50% of IGND financial investment to Climate Justice Communities or those communities that have been historically marginalized. The program will require 40% of participants in future City workforce development programs to fall under the definition of climate justice individuals.
Justice 50 will also fund the Participatory Budget program (another element of the Scorecard). The City will direct 10% of its capital budget to the participatory program enabling residents to have a say in how these public dollars are spent.
Our evaluation process this cycle corresponded with City updates to IGND programs. We have adapted the scorecard to reflect these changes. The reasons for the City’s changes vary. Some elements are proving harder than anticipated and will take longer, but are still considered by the City to be accomplishable within the overall IGND timelines. Other elements are being removed, replaced or combined due to new information.
The Scorecard team gave suggestions and input on these changes. The revised plan was reviewed with City’s Climate Justice and Sustainability Commission. The final changes have been considered in this assessment.
The following information was discussed at the City of Ithaca’s Sustainability and Climate Justice Commission meeting on September 9th, 2024.
